Everlasting

I read this from Glenn's blog, and thought it was the best blog post I've read from him ever, so I'm hijacking it and pasting it here in its entirety. What beautiful and powerful reflections on one of my favourite worship songs, "From The Inside Out." Yes THAT one....which makes me cry every.single.time.

=============================================================
"Everlasting" by Glenn Chan

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” (Psalm 90:2)

“I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times not yet done” (Isaiah 46:9-10)

Hidden deep within the recesses of the human soul, MY soul, lies a longing. A longing…

for eternity… (Ecc 3:11)
for life and a sense of permanence…
for the everlasting…

This, to me, is proof enough that we were made for so much more. This is living proof of Ecclesiates 3:11. The divine hallmark within us leaves us with this longing. But because of the depravity of our lives, we end up living out this insatiable craving for immortality in all our various sinful ways.

We seek an unattainable perfection in things and in people. Unattainable, impossible, but we do it anyway. This is the way of destruction. It is tearing humanity apart. Just open up the newspaper or turn on the new on TV, and there you see it. Humanity making a mess of this world. Killing, stealing, destroying…

But for your Grace…

We were made for eternity. Yes we were. But if not for the Grace & Mercy of the Almighty, we would never make it.

Oh, that my eyes may be opened to see the things that really matter, Lord. May I live with eternity in mind and purpose. Break me, change me form the inside out.

The time is NOW… I SURRENDER.
.
.
.
A thousand times I’ve failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble againStill I’m caught in your grace
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart in my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing you praise
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart in my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, Lord my soul cries out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, Lord my soul cries out
